It is not so well known for its food, although Korean restaurants are not an unfamiliar sight. One Korean food retailer, however, is a major success story.
Paris Baguette is a franchise arm of Paris Croissant, a massive bakery chain relatively unknown outside of South Korea but owned by the formidable SPC Group, one of the oldest brands in the confectionery and bakery industry in Korea. The bakery-café sells French-style croissants, cakes, pastries, salads, and sandwiches to eat in or take out. It was launched in 1988 and has more than 3,500 locations in South Korea, China, Singapore, Vietnam, and France.
There are also 77 stores in the United States and in expansion plans announced in May 2019, New York will gain six new locations, doubling the number in Manhattan and increasing the number in the greater Metropolitan area to 21.

As well as the New York expansion, the chain announced the availability of the new Paris Baguette Rewards app. Using the app, customers will be able to collect points on their purchases and receive special offers. The app is available in iOS and android versions.
On announcing the expansion, Jack F. Moran, Chief Executive Officer of Paris Baguette stated "We are growing at a rapid pace and this milestone moment helps to increase our brand's awareness in the U.S., while still providing the high-end quality, consistency, and authenticity we are known for across the globe."
