Opened in June, Erin McKennas Bakery will be serving those people who without some adaptations would not be able to enjoy delicious sweet desserts.
Erin Mckenna has been developing her gluten-free and vegan recipes since she was a child. She taught herself to bake primarily because as a child, she suffered from many allergies which prevented her from eating sweet treats like other children. These early efforts in developing recipes that worked for those who suffer from allergies led to her opening her very own vegan bakery. In 2005, she opened this bakery in New York and called it Babycakes. This was later renamed because of a copyright dispute and the Erin McKennas Bakery chain was born.
The new bakery based in Santa Monica will actually be McKenna's second store in the Los Angeles area. The bakery based on Montana Avenue is classically designed in pink and purple It has 8 tables and chairs, which is actually an expansion on previous versions of Erin McKennas Bakery chains in that they have previously only had bar seating. The dining area has an extremely cosy feeling, where guests can enjoy their vegan treats in comfort amongst shelves and cabinets loaded with other baked goods.
The new version of the vegan bakery will also have an expansion when it comes to their menu offering. This new location will not just offer sweet treats but will also have a breakfast menu as well as some savoury items. Customers will be able to enjoy breakfast treats such as pancakes, waffles and french toast. Savoury items will also be on offer to give customers a full range of flavours. With items such as avocado toast, mac and cheese, pizza and salads on offer customers will be able to enjoy a full range of vegan food and be free from worry about any allergies they might have.
There will also be a range of vegan wine and beer on offer, for customers to take home to enjoy. The selection will feature organic tipples which have been curated by a longtime customer, Ferdinando Mucerino. This new store is certainly shaping up to be a one-stop-shop for vegans throughout the Santa Monica area.
